In the last Substack live, I challenged each of us to post something we have created that is outside of our norm of poetry or written word. I believe in leading by example, so I am posting a scrap quilt top that I made a few years back. I put it away because I don’t have a long arm quilting machine and I know I need someone else to do the layering and quilting. One of these days I will make that happen. I am also committed to sharing my watercolor paintings on my personal Substack (catheycone.substack.com) even though I feel I am very much an amateur. We need to lose the intimidation of sharing what may seem to us as imperfect by comparison. Comparison kills creativity.
I came across a Ted Talk by Aimee McNee that I IMPLORE all of you to listen to. I have posted the link at the bottom of this page. There is a bit of language, but what she is saying about creativity is so, so important. As I listened it reminded me of how often Graham (Graham Wardle, Time Has Come) talks about each of us being creators even if we don’t believe it of ourselves. It’s not about being self-indulgent, it’s imperative. We need creative content, perfect or not, in the world today. And we can ALL contribute in our own creative ways to make the world a better place by being the change we want to see. So here’s the challenge once again: post something, anything, you have created whether you are proud of it or not. Show us something you are working on besides your usual poetry comfort zone. And let us all cheer you on to keep your creative juices flowing!

Beautiful quilt.
I like that quilt. I used to crochet before my shoulder and hands went bad on me. I had made an afgan blanket. It was very colorful but it came apart so I ended up getting rid of it. I think somewhere in my photos I have a baby blanket I made mtwonof my nieces and some other things I made. I can't do it anymore because of bad arthritis.
