1.
She looked into the mirror, searching for the woman she used to be.
Forty three years in the classroom, feeling the love of her students.
But now without them, who was she? What is her purpose?
The mirror answered, “ Do what you love”.
She smiled, the doubt fading: teaching wasn’t just a job; it was who she was.
Be a substitute the mirror said. Retirement wasn’t the end— just a new beginning.
2.
Who am I now? she asked the glass, as days of teaching came to pass.
The mirror answered true- “Do what you love; it’s still in you.”
So back she went with joy to give, a teacher as long as she would live.
This is so great, Juli! Your love of teaching is so inspiring and I know those students are blessed that you still put so much of yourself into your teaching.
Your poem is a wonderful reflection in words of how I see you. Your passion and love of teaching and students comes through in your posts I read each day. Well done Juliann. 🤗❤️
