I found this the other day as I was going through old papers that I had kept. Why in the world would I keep this writing assignment from 9th grade? You will notice that the grade is an A. It was the first “A” I ever made on a creative writing assignment. I was convinced that I was a terrible writer. I knew facts and could answer questions, but creative writing was not for me. As I read my paper, I was surprised that I received an “A”. I have enjoyed being part of The Time Has Come and Tuesday Creations because it has taken me out of my comfort zone, and encouraged me to write. I now write for myself and enjoy it. After reading my poem about Spring, I decided to try “renew” it by making it rhyme.
SPRING’S RETURN
Spring is the loveliest time of the year,
Melting snow as skies turn clear.
Crocuses bloom where ice once lay,
Bringing color to each day.
Snow drops softly from the trees,
Replaced by blossoms in the breeze.
A miracle, so sweet, so small
New life awakening from the snowfall.
From winter’s cold and shadowed gloom,
Spring arrives with light and bloom.
Love and joy are born anew,
As skies turn bright and birds pass through.
They sing of peace in skies above,
As if sent by Nature’s love.
A message carried, soft and strong:
“Let all the world be filled with song.”
Lovely, Juli! Keep going. 👏👏
Awesome Juli! Wonderful that you found this source of encouragement and affirmation. This is a special place to discover and believe that you are a creative writer. This path didn't even occur to me until finding this wonderful community.
