Rainy Days
After living in the desert for 30 years, with very few rainy days, I actually enjoy them (except when it hails). Gentle rains make walks interesting. Have you ever taken a rainy day walk?
Rainy Days
When skies are gray, rain comes down
A smile turns upside down to a frown
While the sunshine wanders away
Playing hide and seek for the day
The pluviophile calls come, explore
Dust off the umbrella, head out the door
Slip on the raincoat, dig out galoshes
Puddles beckon jump, make sploshes
Leaves float along on streams that arise
Take in the rain through your inner child’s eyes
Run through the puddles without a care
Watch water as it splashes everywhere
Breathe in the fresh, clean air all around
Let the rain wash worries into the ground
Embrace the cleansing as nature is refreshed
Gratitude for rain all living things are blessed
Lovely poem.
In my 21 years growing up on the West (aka wet) Coast, walking and biking in the rain was a frequent choice. We always had good rain suits and when the waterproof breathable technology came out it was awesome. In Calgary, rainy days without lightning are fairly rare, so its all about going out regardless of snow and windchill.
I don't mind rainy day walks if they are warm! And I do love the smell of a good summer rain.
